WHY?
Sports performance environments are often unknown, fluid and ever-changing, this is where agility benefits teams.
Agile teams are able to adapt to the fast-changing demands that performance brings.
When a team is agile in their approach it allows them to stay present and task-focused. They are more able to communicate effectively and respond what is needed now.
WHO?
WHAT?
To be an Agile Team is to follow the processes of agility.
- Coaching the Head Coach to understand their role as the head coach in the agile process.
- Teaching the team how to function effectively through daily and weekly or bi-weekly process cycles.
- Coaching and shaping the team environment to be high performing.
- Coaching individuals as and when they need support to fit into the team processes.
The principles that guide agile teams...
- Individuals & Interactions over Processes and Tools.
- On Field Performance over Technical and Theoretical Models.
- Team Collaboration over Individual Excellence.
- Responding to Change over Following a Plan.
First steps to start the process...
- Set up initial team training. (Two days)
- Head Coach to create Team Performance Backlog. (A list of all the things the team would need to develop to reach their desired performance.)
- Determine regularity of Team Processes. There are 4 team processes that the team will learn to complete.
- Get to work!
All year round, with the best times being pre-season and in-season.
